It took me a while to fall in love with my apartment. It’s not my dream home and let’s be honest, it’s easy to be jealous of homes or apartments I see on social media because they look spacious and have great decor.

My home doesn’t have that great of lighting and as much as I would love to be a “Mute Tone” type of decor girl (or have a few different interior decor themes going at once), that’s just not possible.

Instead of focusing on what I didn’t have or what things I wish I could change, I decided to make the most of my living space.

Here are my workable tips that made my small space.

I shopped on a budget and slowly over time. I’ve found a lot of great items from Ikea, Amazon, Target, and Walmart. With a few extra accessories here and there, my place finally feels like home.

Tip 1: Find items that express your personality. This is your space, so you might as well make it your own.

My living room is actually pretty small. I decided to make the most of my huge window in the living room space and just keep the blinds pulled all the way up. That way I can keep my house as bright as I can.

Tip 2: Find a way to let natural light in. It will give you the illusion of more space and it will brighten your mood.

I have a few side coffee tables that nest one under the other. I decided to play with the color scheme of grey and white. So my tv table (which I repurposed a coffee table to be my tv stand instead) is also white and gray. In addition, I have a small bookshelf next to the couch for an added flair and I purchased an apartment size couch from Amazon.

Tip 3: Find items that will fit within your place without overcrowding the place.

Since I do a lot of artwork, between painting, drawing, crochet, and photography, my storage ottomans are an absolute must to keep my supplies out of sight (when I actually put things away properly).

Tip 4: Organization is key to keeping your space clean and giving the illusion of space.

And that’s it!

With some added touches of love here and there, especially with plants, you can transform your small living space. Hopefully, these tips can help you too!

I think I’ve worked on my envy too by sprucing up the place.

Let me know if any of these tips work for you!
